“Trust is built in very small moments, which I call 'sliding door' moments. In any interaction, there is a possibility of connecting with your partner or turning away from your partner. One such moment is not important, but if you're always choosing to turn away, then trust erodes in a relationship- very gradually, very slowly.”
― John Gottman

“When we work from a place, I believe, that says ‘I’m enough,’ then we stop screaming and start listening, we’re kinder and gentler to the people around us, and we’re kinder and gentler to ourselves.”

"I want you to get excited about who you are, what you are, what you have, and what can still be for you. I want to inspire you to see that you can go far beyond where you are right now."

“We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know”.

- Carl Rogers

INDIVIDUAL COACHING SESSION

Individual Therapy $120

There are many reasons why counselling takes on an eclectic approach. In regards to family versus individual therapy each approach offers a different way of understanding human behaviour and working with the individual client. Both approaches have their benefits and their limitations.

Individual therapy is often called “psychotherapy” or “counselling”. This process involves the therapist and the client working together, one on one in a safe and caring space. Feelings, beliefs and behaviours are explored and areas for change identified.

Despite the importance of recognising the impact of family life on the individual personality, treatment needs to be directed at the individual and their personal makeup.

People seek therapy for a wide variety of reasons, from coping with major life challenges or childhood trauma, to dealing with depression or anxiety, to simply desiring personal growth and greater self-knowledge. A client and therapist may work together for as few as five or six sessions or as long as several years, depending on the client’s unique needs and personal goals for therapy.
