Individual Coaching Session
Individual Therapy
Service Description
There are many reasons why counselling takes on an eclectic approach. In regards to family versus individual therapy each approach offers a different way of understanding human behaviour and working with the individual client. Both approaches have their benefits and their limitations. Individual therapy is often called “psychotherapy” or “counselling”. This process involves the therapist and the client working together, one on one in a safe and caring space. Feelings, beliefs and behaviours are explored and areas for change identified. Despite the importance of recognising the impact of family life on the individual personality, treatment needs to be directed at the individual and their personal makeup. People seek therapy for a wide variety of reasons, from coping with major life challenges or childhood trauma, to dealing with depression or anxiety, to simply desiring personal growth and greater self-knowledge. A client and therapist may work together for as few as five or six sessions or as long as several years, depending on the client’s unique needs and personal goals for therapy.
